Interested in Teaching in China ?
If you are between the ages of 21 and 50, hold an undergraduate degree*, and you are a native English speaker from an English-speaking country, ACES welcomes your application.
Prior teaching experience and/or certification for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) is preferred, but not required as ACES provides teacher training for new hires.
To Apply for a Teaching Position:
1) Obtain a passport.
2) Download the ACES teacher application form HERE
3) E-mail ACES at info@acescenter.org. The body of your e-mail should be a statement of your interest in joining ACES as a teacher in China . Attached to this e-mail, you should include:
a ) A scanned image of your passport.
b ) Your résumé (include two references or reference letters).
c ) A scanned or image of your highest academic degree. If you are still
in the process of finishing your undergraduate degree, you should indicate by
what date you will have received your diploma. We cannot secure a work permit
for you, and thus cannot guarantee you a position, until you have sent us a copy
of this document.
What's Next?
After we have had a chance to review your application materials, you will be contacted by a member of the ACES recruiting team. Assuming that you have met all basic eligibility requirements, this will be to set up a phone interview, and also to give you a chance to direct any questions you might have toward someone who has already had experience teaching with ACES.
Candidates who interview successfully will receive a copy of the standard contract for ACES teachers. If you wish to continue seeking a position with ACES, at this point you will be asked to provide additional materials that will allow us to obtain work permit for you, which you can then use to obtain a work visa.
Note that, unless explicitly stated otherwise, no agreement between ACES and any candidate is binding until a work permit has successfully been obtained.
Candidates interested in non-teaching positions must first complete a teaching contract with ACES, as we prefer to promote from within.
Good luck in seeking an exciting job as an ACES Teacher!
*Occasionally, short-term positions are available during the summer college or university students who have not yet earned an undergraduate degree.
Career Opportunities
ACES is expanding rapidly across China. We have been able to
offer ACES Teachers who perform well (and who are able to commit to longer
stays) full-time salaried positions. These can entail administration of teachers
and R&D management positions.
ACES is also opening several non-profit centers in America and Canada to serve
the English training needs of recent immigrants. The managers and directors that
we place in the centers will be chosen from among our best-performing teachers.
Note that “best-performing” entails a real commitment to our social mission of
encouraging international exchange.
ACES will always seek to advance the careers of its best teachers and managers
and will always seek first to promote individuals from within. This preference
entails a big advantage for teachers coming into our organization over the next
few years, as we continue to grow aggressively.
